A Federal government branch in Melbourne CBD are looking for an Australian citizen to join them as IT Manager for at least 12 months


A Federal government branch in Melbourne CBD are looking for a IT Manager (EL1) to be responsible for the oversight of the IT department function and provide key technical support and advice to management for a period of at least 12 months.

Role & Responsibilities

Manage and develop a small number of employees/contractors performing diverse tasks. Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate service delivery, including manage cultural and procedural change. Evaluate technical solutions and provide recommendations to management consistent with corporate plan and strategy. Maintain ICT policies and procedures, ensuring wide understanding and compliance
Implement strategy including maintain and enhance existing database, data integration and consolidation. Manage infrastructure upgrade and maintain a robust change management process.
Provide high level specialist technical advice when Participating in workshops and team meetings to provide advice on technical ICT activities in a manner suitable for non-ICT staff and managers. Maintain expert knowledge and continue to develop knowledge and expertise in technical skills for ICT team.

Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to perform a leadership role. The ability to exercise a considerable degree of independence and operate under broad direction. High level stakeholder management and communication skills, including liaison and negotiation skills and the ability to communicate (in writing and verbal) complex issues. Experience in effectively managing competing priorities. Experience in implementing strategic directions at team and organisational level. Experience in providing technical input on policy, complex problem solving and issues management for internal and external stakeholders. Strong technical knowledge of ICT infrastructure, applications and databases. The environment is Microsoft, so knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, SharePoint, Microsoft Visual Studio, HTML, XML / XLST will be needed. The applicant must have a strong background in vendor management and managing relationships independently.
